CAPE MAY – Justin M. Freeling, 25, of Villas, was arrested by the Cape May Police Department Oct. 29 at 5:50 p.m. on charges related to burglary, theft and resisting arrest.
Police responded to a 911 call from an employee of Dellas 5&10 Store on the Washington Street Mall, reporting a theft of cash from the store safe by an unidentified subject wearing a plaid jacket and a face mask, and that the person responsible for the theft was being pursued on foot by a store employee.
Officers Derrik Murphy and Scott Krissinger arrived in the area and were alerted to the suspect’s location at Washington Street Mall near Ocean Street by the store employee. Freeling was taken into custody and police recovered the stolen cash, $950, as well as the garments and face mask from a nearby parking lot.
Freeling is charged with burglary, third degree crime, theft, third degree crime, and resisting arrest, disorderly persons offense, and is being held in the Cape May County Correctional Center on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for an initial appearance in Cape May Municipal Court on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
