NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood Police took a report regarding a theft of a purse from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of a business on Spruce and Maryland avenues Nov. 15.
Officer J.W. Garriott and Thomas Flounders Jr. developed information on the accused in this case and a complaint was signed against Joseph Kelly for burglary and theft. Kelly had left the area prior to police arrival and was not in custody at this time.
On Nov. 16, Detective Justin Melo located Kelly after seeing him sitting as a passenger in a vehicle travelling on Route 9 in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township. Detective Melo, with the assistance of the Middle Township Police Department, stopped the vehicle and arrested Kelly without incident.
Kelly, 25, residing in Villas was arrested and charged with burglary and theft. He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center on $25,000 full cash bail set by Judge Louis J. Belasco Jr., PJMC.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
