Video Shows Alleged Theft at Wildwood Motel

By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD – James Mooers reported a theft from the Sea Gull Motel to the Wildwood Police Department. Mooers claimed that on Jan. 19, two individuals entered onto the property and removed approximately 500 feet of welding copper wiring that had been secured to a single axle construction trailer.
Mooers stated the monetary value of the stolen property to be approximately $1,000.
According to the police report, a surveillance video shows two individuals loading the copper wire into a white (or silver) “Ford product vehicle … with two ladders on the roof.”
One of the individuals was wearing “a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt (black and white) and the other appeared to have a long sleeved shirt with a white stripe going down the sleeves,” the police report stated.
“The unknown suspects exited the parking lot with the copper wire. They proceeded to drive eastbound toward Ocean Avenue. Upon approaching Cresse Avenue and Ocean Avenue, the suspect vehicle made a right hand turn (south) and proceeded into Wildwood Crest onto Ocean Avenue.”
The investigation is ongoing.
If you recognize the individuals in the video or have any further knowledge of the incident, please contact the Wildwood Police Department at (609) 522-0222.
