This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
RIO GRANDE – Middle Township Police Department received a report of a possible home invasion at a trailer in the Rio Grande Trailer Park Oct. 12 at approximately 11:41 p.m.
According to a release, the investigation revealed that the victim, whose name is being withheld from this report, contacted Gene Britton, 35, of Rio Grande, in reference to purchasing cocaine. The two met and went to the Walmart parking lot where they met with a subject where the victim purchased an amount of cocaine. The victim and Britton proceeded back to the victim’s trailer and departed ways.
Around 11:30 p.m., Britton met with Devon Onorato, 21, James Lee Harvey, 34, and Brandon Bossuyt, 20, all of Rio Grande, and a 16-year-old juvenile where they conspired to rob the victim.
They proceeded to the victim’s trailer where Onorato, Harvey and the juvenile entered the residence while Britton and Bossuyt stood outside as lookouts. Onorato entered the victim’s trailer first and punched him in the face, knocking him out of his recliner and continued to assault him while Harvey and the juvenile went through the victim’s belongings inside his residence, stealing his two cell phones and $155. It was learned that they were also looking to steal the cocaine the victim had purchased earlier in the day.
Britton was charged with robbery, two counts of conspiracy, burglary, employing a juvenile in a crime and theft.
Bossuyt, Onorato and Harvey were charged with robbery, two counts of conspiracy, burglary, employing a juvenile in a crime, terroristic threats, and theft. Charges are pending against the juvenile.
Britton, Onorato and Harvey were lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center. Bossuyt was released on a summons.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
