The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
OCEAN CITY – Two Ocean City police detectives made a traffic stop for vehicle violations Feb. 14 about 12:52 p.m. What resulted was the arrest of a Vineland man who was charged with drug possession and distribution.
According to a release, Detectives Richard Wilent and Matthew Crowley stopped a vehicle on Roosevelt Boulevard for motor vehicle traffic violations.
The driver was Eliezer Rodriguez, 44, of Vineland. While conducting the stop the detectives allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed distribution amounts of crack cocaine and methamphetamine. In addition, marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia were also located. The controlled dangerous substances were packaged in a manner consistent with distribution.
Rodriguez was placed under arrest and charged with the below offenses.
Rodriguez was also issued a traffic ticket for failing to wear his seatbelt.
Rodriguez was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending a bail hearing.
The charges included possession of cocaine over half an ounce, distribution of cocaine, possession methamphetamine over half an ounce, distribution of methamphetamine, possession marijuana under 50 grams, possession of prescription pills MDMA, possession of drug paraphernalia.
