Vehicle Stop Ends in Arrests of Woman, Teen

WILDWOOD – A traffic stop by Wildwood Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division Sept. 12 at 8:36 p.m. resulted in the arrest of a Rio Grande woman and a 17-year-old juvenile.
According to a release, police conducted a stop in the 4600 block of New Jersey Avenue on a Toyota Tundra pickup truck after observing a motor vehicle infraction. 
During the stop, the driver, Denise Daehling, 34, of Rio Grande, was found to have cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and distribution quantities of marijuana. Daehling was placed under arrest. 
Also, a 17-year-old juvenile from Somers Point in the vehicle was found to have a .32 caliber handgun. The gun was secured and the juvenile was placed under arrest. 
A 4-year-old child, in the vehicle, was taken to police headquarters. 
As a result of the investigation, Daehling was charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a certain public place, possession of Xanax, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, and endangering the welfare of a child. 
Those charges were placed on a summons complaint and Daehling was released in accordance with bail reform guidelines.
The teen juvenile was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. This charge was placed on a juvenile complaint and the teen was released to a guardian. 
The 4-year-old child was turned over to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) pending the results of their investigation.
