RIO GRANDE– On Friday May 21, at approximately 11:52 a.m., Patrolman Armond Jones arrived at the Economy Motel on Route 9, in Rio Grande, to attempt service of bench warrants on Jimmy Testa,25, and Julia Fowler, 22, from Perry Road, in Upper Township, who were staying at the motel.
As Ptl. Jones came around the back corner of the motel, he encountered Testa, who provided a false name and identification. Ptl. Jones had previously seen a photo of Testa, and knew that he was providing false information. At that time, Testa pushed Ptl. Jones away and took off running away. Ptl. Jones quickly caught up to Testa, and brought him to the ground, where he attempted to bite Ptl. Jones, and continued to resist arrest. Corporal Fred Crawley then arrived on-scene, and Testa was brought under control, and handcuffed.
After processing, Testa was remanded to the Cape May County Jail, on a $50,000 bail, for Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Hindering Apprehension. Detainers out of Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, were also lodged against Testa, which have a “No-Bail” status.
Patrolman Tracey Super then arrived on-scene, and further investigation revealed that Fowler was hiding in one of the rooms of the motel. Fowler was located and taken into custody by Ptl. Super. Fowler processed and placed in the Cape May County jail, on a $16,000 non-support warrant, out of Cumberland County.
