UPDATE: Woman Assaulted While Walking on Ocean City Beach

OCEAN CITY– A woman talking a late night walk on July 8 was assaulted on the 1000 beach block, according to Ocean City Police.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who assaulted the woman.
The woman told police she was walking north on the beach from 11th Street when a man assaulted her at approximately 1:45 a.m., Thursday.
The attacker was described by the victim to be a heavy set white male with some facial hair, police said.
The woman was taken to Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point where she was treated for minor injuries.
The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean City Police Department have determined the initial reported assault on July 8, 2010 is now being investigated as a sexual assault.
Information received during follow up interviews with the Victim and other characteristics of the investigation indicate that a sexual assault occurred.
Attached to this press release is a composite drawing of the suspect. The drawing was prepared by the New Jersey State Police Composite Drawing Unit based on information provided by the Victim.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything unusual between 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. to call them at 609-399-9111.
