COURT HOUSE – As a result of the autopsy, the previously unidentified female has been positively identified as Nicole Angstadt, 15, Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor announced in a Dec. 16 release.
Angstadt had been reported to the Lower Township Police as a missing person Dec. 1.
According to Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, the manner of death has been listed as a homicide. Because the investigation is still ongoing, the Prosecutor does not want to elaborate as to the cause of her death, but would like to assure the public that investigators do not believe this to be a random act.
On Dec. 14, detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lower Township Police Department went to the vacant property located at 100 Vermont Avenue and located the decedent in the crawlspace.
The ensuing investigation has lead to the arrest of three males for charges unrelated to the death of Angstadt.
On Dec. 14, the following two individuals were charged with two separate armed robberies, one being committed in Lower Township Dec. 5 and one being committed in Middle Township Dec. 8.
LaQuan Harris, 20, and Derrick Powers, 23, both of Rio Grande, have both been charged with two counts each for first degree armed robbery and second degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
The investigation revealed that both were involved in an armed robbery of nine juveniles while at Mulligan Park in the Villas section of Lower Township. On Dec. 8, both were involved in another armed robbery in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township that involved the victim being struck with a handgun. Both were lodged in Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $200,000 bail.
On Dec. 14, it was learned that Charles E. Mosley, 32, of Rio Grande, had an alleged sexual relationship with Angstadt. As a result, he was charged with sexual assault of a person at least 13 but less than 16 years of age, a crime of the second degree, third degree endangering the welfare of a minor and fourth degree trespassing. Mosley was lodged in Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Taylor would like to emphasize that the investigation into the death of Angstadt is ongoing and no one has been charged as of Dec. 16.
