NORTH WILDWOOD – On June 1, at 3:58 a.m., North Wildwood police responded to a report of an attempted sexual assault at 20th and New Jersey Avenues.
The victim, a 21 year old North Wildwood female, reported that after leaving the entertainment district on Old New Jersey Avenue she met a male in the 700 block of New Jersey Avenue.
The male subject was apparently intoxicated and had fallen and was brushing himself off.
They walked to 20th and New Jersey Avenues where the male subject got into an altercation with the victim and the suspect attempted to pull off the victim’s pants.
The female screamed and a person walking his dog along with several others came to the victim’s assistance.
The male suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is identified as a white male, 37 years old, medium to thin build, with dark color eyes and dark hair worn “slicked back” style.
He was wearing a white t-shirt with a dark color design, khaki shorts and sneakers.
The K-9 unit from the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department was summoned to the scene in an attempt to track the suspect.
The incident is under investigation by the Detective Bureau with the assistance of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
