UPDATE: Lower Detectives Cuff Five with Marijuana

VILLAS — Lower Township police made four arrests on Dec. 15 and another Dec. 17 in a sweep that netted almost 200 bags of marijuana.
According to a release, on Dec. 15, police seized nearly 200 bags of marijuana of various sizes.
Acting on a tip, police went to the area of a parking lot in Bayshore Mall in the 3000 block of Bayshore Road, North Cape May/
They discovered two subjects in possession of about three ounces of marijuana. Members of the county Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit assisted detectives.
Arrested at the scene was Alex Scarpetti, 20, of the first block of Franklin Avenue here. Also arrested was Da’Vionne Graves, 20, of the first block of Pacific Avenue here. Both were transported to police headquarters for processing and were charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Both were remanded to county jail in lieu of $15,000 bail set by Judge David DeWeese.
The investigation then led to a residence in the 100 block of Vermont Avenue here and the seizure of 181 bags of marijuana. As a result, police arrested Fred Schartner, 20, of that address. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of intent to distribute after surrendering the marijuana in his possession.
A third location that night, in the first block Cloverdale Avenue here, led to the seizure of 10 bags of marijuana and the arrest of Thomas Solenski, 20, of that address. He was charged with possession of marijuana.
Then, on Dec. 17, at about 10 a.m. detectives responded to an apartment in the 3000 block of Bayshore Road for a report of a subject growing marijuana in his apartment.
Detectives seized seven plants that ranged in size from about six inches to two feet in height.
Also taken was a small amount of marijuana and seeds. Kevin Peters, 19, of that address was arrested and charged with cultivating marijuana and possession of marijuana.
Detectives Chris Lambert, Joe Boyle and Mel Hedum investigated the case.
