DEL HAVEN — Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner announced that 71-year-old Frederick Gene Marr was arrested earlier today in Volusia County, Fla. He was wanted in connection with the homicide of 50-year-old Ronald Denny Sr. who was killed by a single gunshot yesterday afternoon in the driveway of his home located in the unit block of 10th Street.
Officers arrived at the address and found Denny deceased in front of the home.
According to a county wide “be on the lookout” broadcast authorities were looking for a two tone F-150 pick-up truck which may have been involved.
Officers from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Middle Township Police Major Crimes Unit worked in conjunction with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department, the Daytona Beach Police Department, the Holly Hills Police Department and the United States Marshal’s Service to track and apprehend Marr.
Marr will be committed to the Volusia County Correctional Center pending extradition.
According to Prosecutor Taylor, the case remains an active investigation and more information will be released when warranted.
The investigation into this crime is a cooperative investigation involving the Middle Township Police and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Taylor, in a release, commended the cooperative efforts of the Middle Township Police, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Lower Township Police Department, Cape May County Sheriff’s Department along with the county and local law enforcement officers in Florida for their “exhaustive efforts” to apprehend Marr
