UPPER TOWNSHIP– State Police are looking for two men who robbed a man and woman in a Petersburg home Tuesday night.
State Police said two men broke into the home on the 100 block of Perry Road in the Petersburg section of the township shortly after 10:30 p.m., and demanded cash. The victim handed over the cash and the men fled on foot. One shot was fired in the house during the robbery.
The 32 year-old home owner was pistol-whipped in the attack. An unidentified 30-year-old woman who was in the home at the time of the attack was uninjured.
The Upper Township Rescue Squad responded to the scene to treat the homeowner.
K-9 officers from Ocean City police department and state police converged on the scene to search for the two suspects reported to be two black males wearing ski masks. Troopers could be seen walking down the rural road with assault rifles.
The K-9’s led the police to an area where they believe the suspects got into a car.
According to a county wide be on the lookout broadcast the pair fled the scene in a blue or black Ford F-150 pickup truck South on Route 50, the broadcast reported the suspects were armed with hand guns.
State Police said they were “able to collect good evidence at the scene which will help them find the suspects”.
