UPDATE: Goshen Man Charged in Connection With Cemetery Damage

COURT HOUSE– On September 5th the Middle Township Police Department received a report of damaged headstones at the Baptist Cemetery on Church Street in the Cape May Court House section of the Township.
Investigation revealed that a vehicle drove over several headstones to burial plots and left the scene. It appears the vehicle purposely ran over the headstones, as it appeared to come to a stop, spin wheels in reverse and then run over more headstones.
It is estimated that several thousand dollars worth of damage was caused.
The department is awaiting more information from the caretaker of the cemetery as to how many headstones will need to be replaced and the names of the families of the deceased.
The driver of the vehicle, Wade Moore age 28 of Goshen Road, was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Moore did not deliberately damage the property.
Moore was charged with several motor vehicle offenses including Leaving the scene of an Accident, Failure to Report an Accident, Driving While Suspended, Careless Driving and Having an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
