UPDATE: Georgia Man Found Shot to Death on Scallop Boat

LOWER TOWNSHIP– A Georgia man was found shot to death on board the 72-foot scallop boat the Adrianna on Saturday morning.
Police were called to the scene just before 9:30 a.m., at the Atlantic Fisheries where the vessel was being docked.
State police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones said Vernard Ellingsen, 54, of Cairo, Ga, was found dead at the bottom of the wheel house stairs by an employee. Ellingsen had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. Jones confirmed a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Jones said the state police are investigating the incident as a “suspicious death and no ruling of suicide has been made at this point”.
