UPDATE: Co. Prosecutor Launches Animal Cruelty Investigation into Dog’s Death

CREST HAVEN – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland stated in a Feb. 8 release that his office is conducting an animal cruelty investigation in connection with the death of a dog found in a trash can in Beesley’s Point Feb. 7.
The animal was found about 10:18 a.m. by Upper Township Public Works employees in an area of Cove and Harbor roads. The female canine was white with tan patches, about 35-40 pounds and may have been a Corgi-Terrier or Cattle dog mix.
Detectives from the County Prosecutor’s Office are seeking to determine if a crime took place in connection with the animal’s death. Sutherland urged the public to report any information to his office at (609) 465-1135.

BEESLEY’S POINT – Shore Animal Control is seeking information from anyone who may have information on the person who dumped a dog in a trash can on the side of Cove Road in Beesley’s Point.
The female, possible cattle dog or a similar breed, was white and tan, approximately 35-40 pounds.
She had a broken front leg as well as other injuries.
Personnel at Shore Animal Control believe that the animal was placed into the trash can while still alive; she has died.
