By Press Release

STONE HARBOR – Officer Joseph Smith was conducting a beach foot patrol on the 86th Street beach for alcohol violations Aug. 21 at 4:01 p.m.
He observed two individuals sitting between a cooler and one individual, now known as Christopher Binet, 19, of Oreland, Pa., had a mug suspected of having beer. Binet indicated he was 21 years of age and the officer conducted a name check with dispatch. The officer gave a warning for the open container violation and walked away.
A short time later, it was discovered that a false date of birth was given and that Binet was actually 19 years of age.
Officer Jospeh Smith returned to the area and located Binet. He was placed under arrest and transported to the station. He was charged with disorderly persons offenses of underage possession of 16 12 oz. cans of Miller Lite, hindering apprehension, possession of a fake Pennsylvania driver’s license, and having an open container in public.
This case is pending Stone Harbor Municipal Court.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
