WILDWOOD CREST — On Tue., Aug. 17 just before 10 a.m., Wildwood Crest police received multiple 911 calls regarding a fight in the 6700 block of Ocean Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found Ivan Medina-Velez, 25, of Wildwood, alert and bleeding from a head wound. Police learned that he had fought with Gabriel Pagan, 26, of Wildwood.
According to police, witnesses reported that Pagan struck Medina-Velez multiple times with a stick while he was on the ground. Medina-Velez allegedly pulled a large kitchen knife from his waistband and threatened Pagan.
Pagan had fled the area and was located a short time later in a nearby parking garage.
Both men were charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses. Judge Louis Belasco set bail at 10 percent of $3,000 for each. Both men posted bail and were released.
Medina-Velez refused medical treatment for his injuries, which were not serious, police said.
The incident remains under investigation by Sgt. Michael Hawthorne and Detective Edward Gorski.
