NORTH WILDWOOD- Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor, Police Chief Matthew Gallagher of the North Wildwood Police Department, and Chief Chris Leusner of the Middle Township Police Department announce the conclusion of a three month long narcotics investigation with the arrest of Juan C. Maldonado, 31, and Raquel Soto, 41. Both are residents of the 2400 Block of Central Avenue in North Wildwood.
On Oct. 1, Maldonado and Soto were arrested on charges of distribution of heroin. As the result of the investigation, court authorized search warrants were executed on a residence in the 2400 Block of Central Avenue in North Wildwood, two motor vehicles and a travel-trailer, which resulted in the seizure of distribution amounts of heroin and the seizure of over $22,000. Also seized were two motor vehicles and one travel-trailer, which the Prosecutor’s Office will file for civil forfeiture.
Both Maldonado and Soto were charged with the following crimes:
Distribution of heroin, a crime of the third degree, possession of heroin, a crime of the third degree, and distribution of heroin in a school zone, a crime of the third degree.
Soto was released on a summons and Maldonado was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in lieu of $35,000 cash bail.
Prosecutor Taylor commended the work of the Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force along with all of the cooperating agencies involved in this investigation. Prosecutor Taylor stated the Task Force will continue to target upper level drug dealers in Cape May County, along with the seizure of their assets.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
