RIO GRANDE — Middle Township police were called to a home on Route 47 here on July 20 at 11:30 a.m. because it had been burglarized.
While investigating that incident, an adjacent home was also found to have been targeted by burglars. Both homes had been ransacked and neither was occupied at the time of entry.
Police are awaiting the owners to inspect their dwellings to ascertain whether anything was stolen.
Biological evidence was collected at the scene and will be submitted to New Jersey State Police laboratories for testing.
Over the past two weeks, there have been several burglaries in the Rio Grande area, including one where homeowners confronted an individual inside their residence.
Police ask homeowners to be extra vigilant and to secure their homes and vehicles.
The police also ask that any unusual activities be reported to police immediately.
