Two Face Illicit Drug Charges

WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division Street Crimes Unit concluded an investigation July 6 concerning the street level sales of narcotics located in the City of Wildwood. As a result of the preliminary investigation, two individuals were arrested in connection to the illicit sales of narcotics from a multi-family complex located in the 200 East block Glenwood Avenue.

During the developing investigation, a court authorized search warrant was executed at the multi-family complex. As a result of the search of a secured exterior utility room, distribution quantities of cocaine and heroin were recovered. The controlled dangerous substances seized in connection to the investigation were prepackaged for street level sales/distribution. The illicit narcotics seized in connection to the investigation had an estimated street value of approximately $1,500. Additionally seized in connection to the investigation was narcotics paraphernalia and a weapon.

As a result of the investigation, Miguel Rivera-Ramos, 39 of Woodbine, and Fonzell Bevans, 29, of Camden, where arrested and charged with the following criminal offenses;

Rivera-Ramos was charged with possession of heroin, a crime of the third degree, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, crime of the third degree, possession of heroin within 1000′ of school property, a crime of the third degree, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 500′ of certain public property, a crime of the second degree, possession of cocaine, a crime of the third degree, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, a crime of the third degree, possession of cocaine within 500′ of certain public property, a crime of the second degree, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense, possession of a weapon, a crime of the second degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the third degree, and unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the fourth degree. Judge Dorothy Garrabrant of the Wildwood Municipal Court set bail for Rivera-Ramos at $250,000 full cash/bond no ten percent. Rivera-Ramos was unable to post bail and was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center.

Bevans was charged with possession of heroin, a crime of the third degree, and loitering with the intent to purchase a controlled dangerous substance, a disorderly persons offense. Bevans charges were issued on a criminal summons complaint and he was released pending a future court date.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
