RIO GRANDE – Members of the Middle Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit observed two men, identified as Thomas McCullen and Juan Rodriguez-Roman, meet and engage in what appeared to be a drug transaction in a Rio Grande parking lot located on the 1500 block of Route 47 Feb. 1. When members of the Street Crimes Unit approached McCullen and Rodriguez-Roman, Rodriguez-Roman attempted to flee the area. He was quickly apprehended. Officers recovered eight wax folds of heroin from Rodriguez-Roman.
Middle Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant on Rodriguez-Roman’s room at a motel on the 1400 block of Route 47. As a result of the search, 84 bags of heroin were seized, along with 14 doses of Suboxone.
As a result of this investigation, McCullen was charged with possession of heroin, a crime of the third degree, and lodged in Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $15,000 full cash bail.
Rodriguez-Roman was charged with two counts of possession of CDS, a crime of the third degree, two counts of distribution of CDS, a crime of the third degree, resisting arrest, a crime of the third degree, and hindering apprehension, a crime of the fourth degree. Rodriguez-Roman was lodged in Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $140,000 full cash bail.
