DIAS CREEK – Middle Township Police Department received a commercial burglar alarm from a convenience store off Route 47 and Hand Avenue in Dias Creek Jan. 7 at 3:23 a.m. Sgt. Higginbottom, along with several patrol officers, responded to the alarm.
Sgt. Higginbottom observed a vehicle in the area and alerted other officers of the description of the vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently stopped in the area of Shellbay Avenue. The officer observed merchandise that was stolen from the store in the vehicle. The driver, Christopher Weldon, 35, and a passenger, Sabrina Givens, 37, both from Gloucester City, N.J., were arrested for burglary.
They were both charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and conspiracy. Weldon had an additional charge for possession of heroin. Both were transported to Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of bail.
Bail was set at $60,000 for Weldon and $40,000 for Givens.
