Traffic Stop Leads to DWI, Fugitive Arrest

NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood Police Sergeant Brian Harkins conducted a traffic stop on the 2500 block of Surf Avenue Nov. 30 at approximately 11:44 p.m. The driver, Jeffrey Nelson, appeared to be operating his vehicle while being intoxicated. Further investigation revealed that Nelson was wanted out of the State of Del. for a theft related charge.
Nelson, 46, residing in North Wildwood, was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice from the State of Del. and driving while intoxicated. Nelson was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center awaiting extradition.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
