Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Street Crimes Unit conducted a motor vehicle stop Oct. 11 in connection to a covert narcotics related investigation.

During the proceeding investigation, the driver and operator of the vehicle, identified as Ian R. Longstreet, 24, was found to be in possession of distribution quantities of marijuana.

During the developing investigation, a court ordered search warrant was authorized resulting in the physical search of the motor vehicle. As a result of the inquiry, additional quantities of marijuana was seized. The controlled dangerous substances were prepackaged for street level sales and distribution.

Additionally seized in connection to the search of the vehicle was narcotics paraphernalia, which included packaging material and a weighing scale. During the search, $6,195 identified as proceeds of the illicit activity was confiscated for forfeiture purposes.

As a result of the aforementioned criminal investigation, Longstreet was charged with the following criminal offenses: possession of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, a crime of the fourth degree, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense, and financial facilitation of criminal activity, a crime of the third degree.
Judge Dorothy Garrabrant, of the Wildwood Municipal Court, set bail on Longstreet at $25,000, full cash, no ten percent on all charges. Longstreet was unable to post bail and was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
