WILDWOOD CREST – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Captain Joseph McGrath of the Wildwood Crest Police Department announce the arrest of Wildwood Crest residents, Darryl L. Jones, 39, and Crystal Green, 33, for the distribution of heroin and cocaine on Aug. 17.
These arrests are the conclusion of a cooperative investigation between the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Wildwood Crest Police Department Detective Division.
On Aug. 17, with the assistance of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team, a court authorized search warrant was executed at the residence of Jones and Green located in the 100 W. block Crocus Road in Wildwood Crest. Jones, Green and Marlon Mitchell, 47, were located inside of the residence. Also located within the residence were three children, a 15 month old, an 8 year old and a 9 year old. Seized during this investigation were 10 grams of raw heroin with an estimated street value of $4,000 and approximately three ounces of crack cocaine, with an approximate street value of $5,000.
Jones and Green were charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) – heroin, third degree, possession of CDS – cocaine, third degree, distribution of CDS – cocaine, second degree, distribution of CDS – heroin, third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child, second degree.
Jones was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $100,000 full cash bail set by Judge Louis Belasco, PJMC. Green was released on her own recognizance pending a court appearance.
Additionally, Mitchell was charged with possession of CDS – cocaine, third degree. Mitchell was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $25,000 full cash bail set by Judge Belasco.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 10 to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison. Prosecutor Taylor stated that his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.
