Teacher Found Guilty in Pupils’ Sex Assault in Cape May Gets Seven Years

BRIDGETON — Michael Drebes, 38, a Millville Memorial High School mathematics teacher was sentenced Friday to seven years in state prison for sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
The case involved numerous acts of sexual penetration with the victim. According to prosecutors the incidents occurred in Cape May, Vineland, Waterford and Millville on various dates between February and May 2009.
Drebes, will serve five years of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.
After release from prison, Drebes will be subject to parole supervision for life and will be registered under Megan’s Law as a sex offender.
In addition, he has forfeited his right to public employment.
