Suspected Heroin Found in Child’s Candy Bag after Rio Trunk or Treat

RIO GRANDE – The Middle Township police reported an incident that occurred Oct. 25 at a local Trunk-or-Treat event.
According to a release, the police department was notified that a parent was checking their child’s candy bag after attending Trunk-or-Treat at the Family Success Center in Rio Grande and found a bag of what is believed to be heroin.
There is only one reported incident, as of Oct. 26. The incident is being investigated by the Middle Township Police Patrol and Major Crimes Units.
The department advises parents and guardians to check their children’s candy bags thoroughly and contact the police if they discover anything suspicious, harmful or out of the ordinary.
