Stone Harbor Police Charge Mays Landing Man with Drug Possession

STONE HARBOR — On Friday July 30, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Sleo II Officer Carroll was on foot patrol and observed Philip Mendez, 30, of Mays Landing, sitting in the driver seat of a vehicle parked against the flow of traffic on the 200 block of 94th Street.
Officer Carroll walked over to Mendez and observed him attempting to roll marijuana into an unwrapped cigarette. Mendez was subsequently placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.
Mendez was asked for consent to further search his vehicle and declined. A search warrant was sought and approved by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office. Judge Fowler authorized the search warrant, which was later executed by Stone Harbor Police Detective Robert Walker.
Additional marijuana was seized as a result of the search warrant. Mendez was released with a summons for Possessing Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. The Cape May County Sheriff Department’s K-9 unit provided assistance with the investigation.
