Shots Fired in Wildwood Mean Six Face Charges

WILDWOOD – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor, Wildwood Police Chief Robert Regalbuto and Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner report the arrest of six individuals related to a shooting that occurred in the City of Wildwood.

On Jan. 28, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Wildwood Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 East block of Roberts Avenue in Wildwood. Upon arrival, police conducted a search of the area and located several shell casings, from a firearm, lying on the ground in the 100 East block of Roberts Avenue. No injuries were reported.

Members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Unit responded to the area and processed the scene, where items of evidential value were collected. A subsequent investigation was conducted by detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Wildwood Police Department, Wildwood Street Crimes Unit and Middle Township Street Crimes Unit. Pursuant to their findings the following individuals were arrested and charged.

On Jan. 29, Sayvon Johnson, 21, and Larry Arnold, 20, both from Whitesboro, were arrested and charged with attempted murder, a crime of the second degree, unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the second degree, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, a crime of the second degree. Both men were transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center and held on $100,000 full cash bail set by Judge Dorothy Garrabrant.

Also arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon was Adriana McFadden, 19, and Lashonda Johnson, 20, both from Whitesboro. Both women were issued summonses and released on their own recognizance by Judge Garrabrant pending court proceedings.

On Feb. 3, Tirrell McGill, 24, from Whitesboro, who investigators had an arrest warrant for, was located inside a residence in the 500 block of Langston Street in Whitesboro. With the assistance of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team, McGill was arrested without incident. McGill was subsequently charged with attempted murder, a crime of the second degree, unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the second degree, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, also a crime of the second degree. McGill was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center where he was held on $500,000 full cash bail set by Judge Garrabrant.

A court-authorized search warrant was subsequently executed at the residence where McGill was arrested and a loaded .38 caliber handgun was seized. Natasia Lopez, 22, from Whitesboro, was charged with possession of a defaced firearm, a crime of the fourth degree. Lopez was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $2,500 bail set by Judge Garrabrant.

Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison and persons convicted of fourth degree crimes can be sentenced up to 18 months in prison.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed as a result of this investigation.
