VILLAS – Lower Township Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block West Wilde Avenue May 29 at approximately 5:50 a.m., County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announced in a June 1 release. Upon arrival, police conducted a cursory search of the area but were unable to locate any evidence of gunfire. The next day, a resident in that area called to report finding bullet holes in her home.
Lower Township Police Officers, along with members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Unit, responded back to the area and processed the scene. A subsequent investigation is being conducted by members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Detectives from the Lower Township Police Department. This investigation is ongoing and further details will be forthcoming pursuant to the investigation.
