ERMA — Considering what a West Cape May woman went through for failing to wear a seat belt, it might have been easier to simply click it.
According to Lower Township police, on May 31 about 10:15 a.m., while conducting a “Click it or Ticket” enforcement in the area of Sally Marshall Crossing, they came into contact with Paula C. Robbins of West Cape May who was allegedly not wearing a seat belt.
After being advised to pull her vehicle to a parking area as officers prepared to issue her a summons for failure to wear a seat belt, Robbins reportedly became argumentative “and shortly fled the area,” according to a release.
Patrolmen Pat Greene and C.J. Ryan went to their vehicle while keeping visual contact on Robbins’ vehicle. They observed it as it headed down a side street in an attempt to elude officers.
That was a poor choice of getaway routes since the street was a dead end. Nevertheless, Robbins attempted to turn her vehicle around.
By that time, officers had her stopped. She was transported to Lower Township Police Headquarters for processing.
There, she was charged with obstruction on a summons and released.
In addition she also received a ticket for non-compliance with the seat belt law.
