Search Warrant Yields Drug Bust

By Joe Hart

COURT HOUSE — On April 15, police here made a drug bust at a home on Johnson Avenue.
The Middle Township Police Street Crimes Unit in conjunction with the county Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force, the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and the county Regional SWAT Team executed a court authorized search warrant at the home and seized marijuana, prescription legend drugs and drug paraphernalia.
According to a release, police arrested Louis Bell Jr., of Court House, for marijuana possession, possession with the intent to distribute and possession of prescription drugs as well as drug paraphernalia.
Bell was lodged in county jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.
According to the state Department of Corrections, Bell previously served time for assault by auto and a criminal sexual contact offense from May 2004.
According to a Herald report from Jan. 31, 2007, the assault by auto charge stemmed from an early morning hit-and-run accident on Johnstown Lane, Mayville. Bell was arrested after his Chevy Blazer struck two pedestrians and Bell fled the scene.
Bell was lodged in the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Yardville, Burlington County from Oct. 12, 2007 to Aug. 20, 2008.
