SEA ISLE CITY — A 30-year-old Sea Isle City man was arrested Thur., April 14 ending a seven-hour standoff that took place overnight.
In a joint release, Sea Isle City Police Chief Thomas D’Intino and Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor announced the arrest of John Dando of the 100-block 61st Street. At about 10 p.m. on Wed., April 13, Sea Isle City police were dispatched to the 10 block of 61st Street for the report of a domestic violence incident. Avictim was allegedly assaulted in that incident.
When police arrived, they reported Dando refused to answer the door and appeared to be barricading himself inside the dwelling.
An investigation was coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office and city police, but also included the county Re-gional SWAT Team, county Hostage Negotiations Team and county Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit.
The investigation revealed that Dando might be a danger to himself or others, police stated.
After numerous attempts to make contact with Dando over six hours, the SWAT Team entered his residence and took him into custody.
Dando was arrested for assault and committed to the county Correctional Center in lieu of bail.
Taylor and D’Intino commended the work of all agencies involved in the investigation for bringing it to a safe end.
