ERMA – While investigating a road rage incident that occurred in Middle Township, Special Class II Officer Joseph Mellina observed the involved vehicle, which displayed the Pennsylvania registration provided by the Middle Township Police Department, in the area of Tabernacle Road and Route 9 in the Erma section of Lower Township Aug. 22.
Upon stopping the vehicle, Officer Mellina encountered, John Passio, 50, from Philadelphia, Pa. During the investigation into the reported road rage incident, Officer Mellina discovered Passio was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), specifically marijuana.
Passio was taken into custody and transported to the Lower Township Police Department for processing. He was charged on a summons complaint with possession of CDS, a disorderly persons offense. At the conclusion of processing, Passio was released on his own recognizance with a pending court date.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
