Rio Juvenile Slugs Assailant; Police Seek Public’s Help

The following was received from a law enforcement agency.
RIO GRANDE – On Aug. 8 at approximately 5:55 p.m. the Middle Township Police Department received a call from a juvenile (age 16) who reported that while walking on Second Street in Rio Grande, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a male subject grabbed him by the shirt and neck.
The juvenile was able to fight off the man by punching him in the face. The male subject then entered his car and left the area. His vehicle was described as a dark blue Honda Civic. The area was searched and neighboring jurisdictions were notified of the incident and also searched their areas.
During the investigation, the juvenile was interviewed and indicated that the subject never attempted to get him into the vehicle nor did he attempt to take anything from him.
The victim only stated that he heard footsteps behind him. Then the subject grabbed his shirt. When he turned around, he punched the subject in the face. That person ran to his car and left the scene.
The subject was reported to be a white male, apprx 5’10” tall, about 200 pounds, in his late 40s, with a 5 o’clock shadow.
Vehicle description: Dark navy blue or black Honda Civic early 2000 model.
