RIO GRANDE– On Thursday, April 22, Middle Township Patrolman Phil Johnson headed to Linden Circle to serve 19-year-old Arthur Daisey with a final restraining order. He also intended to arrest Daisey on a pending warrant for violating the previous restraining order.
It could have been an easy ride to jail for Daisey, but when Johnson arrived at Daisey’s front door he took off through the neighborhood according to Lt. John Edwards. At that time, Johnson radioed for back-up and returned to his patrol car to secure it before giving chase.
The county Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit was requested and additional Middle Township officers and prosecutor’s office detectives in the area responded. Within minutes, a perimeter was set up.
With nowhere to run, Daisey wearing a conspicuous pink shirt headed back home where officers were waiting to arrest him.
Johnson drove Daisey to county jail where he was lodged on the original charges and a new charge for resisting arrest.
Edwards said bail has not yet been set.
