Restaurant, Bakery Burglars Sought

CAPE MAY –– Cape May Police Chief Diane M. Sorantino reported that two area establishments were burglarized recently.
On Nov. 11 at 1:42 a.m., police responded to a burglary call at Bella Vida Restaurant on Broadway in West Cape May.
The restaurant owner reported being awakened by the sound of an intruder forcibly entering the restaurant office. He said he was assaulted and forced to produce money before the intruder left the building.
The county Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit responded to the scene to assist in the search for the suspect.
Later that morning at 4:45 a.m., the owner of the Cape May Bakery on West Perry Street reported a similar incident. The owner discovered that someone had entered the bakery, damaged the cash register and stole a computer.
