Prosecutor’s Office Announces Sentencing for Theft

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Tylor announces the sentencing of Charles L. Markum III, 29 year old male, of West Wildwood, New Jersey, for third degree theft.
In April of 2012, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the West Wildwood Police Department conducted a joint burglary, forgery, uttering false documents, and theft investigation, which had occurred in the Borough of West Wildwood. During the course of this investigation, it was learned that Markum had illegally obtained ten checks from the victim, forged the victim’s signature and cashed the checks at various locations throughout Cape May County.
On June 28, 2013, Charles L. Markum III was sentenced by the Honorable Patricia M. Wild, JSC, to 4 years in New Jersey State Prison and ordered to pay $5,456.00 in restitution.
Prosecutor Taylor recognizes the efforts of the agencies involved which resulted in the successful conclusion of this investigation.
