Prosecutor’s Office and Wildwood Police Make Drug Arrest

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Steve Long announce the arrest of 28 year old Robert Nichols of Woodbine for drug-related charges.
On June 15, 2013, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Wildwood officers to the 200 block of East Baker Avenue for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident. The fleeing vehicle, operated by Robert Nichols, was located parked in the 200 block of East Montgomery Avenue.
As officers approached the vehicle, Nichols was unconscious, seated in the driver’s seat, with several hypodermic syringes in one hand and five blue waxed folds in the other. The blue waxed paper folds, which are commonly used to package heroin, were empty. Nichols was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center and later released. As a result, Nichols was charged with Posession of a hypodermic needle, Possession of drug paraphenelia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Nichols also received summons for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, unsafe backing, and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
The occupant of the vehicle that Nichols struck was not injured.
