COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Prosecutor, Jeffrey Sutherland, announced the arrest of a Hammonton man Oct. 12.
The charge, in conjunction with the fatal H2oi rally, is the third publicly announced arrest in the wake of the mayhem.
Zion Diaz, 18, was arrested after the Wildwood Police Department and detectives with the prosecutor’s office executed a court-authorized search warrant at his residence.
Authorities say the arrest was “without incident.”
Police say Diaz instructed others to block intersections, do “burnouts” and block police vehicles from passing through crowds Sept. 24.
Diaz is charged with riot, a crime of the 4th degree. He was processed and released on a summons.
Any charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
