Prosecutor Charges Whitesboro Man with Multiple Drug Offenses

COURT HOUSE — Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Chief Christopher Leusner of the Middle Township Police Department announce the conclusion of a month long narcotics investigation involving the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Middle Township Detective Bureau.
On November 3, 2010, members of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Middle Township Police Department and Cape May County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, executed Court. Authorized Search Warrants on George Street in the White sboro section of Middle Township and on the person of Isaiah Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick was not at the above residence at the time of the Search Warrant but was located in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township.
After a short foot chase, Fitzpatrick was apprehended. When Fitzpatrick attempted to flee from police, he attempted discard evidence that was found to be a “brick” of heroin.
As a result of these Search Warrants, the following items were seized: a loaded .25 caliber semi automatic handgun, over 380 bags of suspected heroin; twenty two (22) bags of suspected cocaine; approximately eight (8) ounces of suspected marijuana; an amount of US currency; and packaging materials to include two (2) digital scales. According to Prosecutor Taylor, the approxirnate total street value of all of the seized narcotics is over $10,000.
Isaiah Fitzpatrick, 20 years of age, of Whitesboro, NJ, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin) in an amount over ‘A ounce, a crime of the third degree; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin)with the Intent to Distribute in an amount over 1/2 ounce, a crime of the second degree; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine) with the Intent to Distribute within 500 feet of Certain Public Property, a second degree crime; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine) and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine) with the Intent to Distribute in an amount under V2 ounce, both, third degree crimes; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Marijuana) in an amount over fifty (50) grams, a fourth degree crime; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with the Intent to Distribute (Marijuana) in an amount over fifty (50) grams, a third degree crime; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a crime of the third degree; Possession of a Weapon for an unlawful purpose, a second degree crime; and Possession of a Weapon during a CDS offence, a crime of the second degree. Fitzpatrick was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $250,000 full cash bait
Persons convicted of second degree crimes may be sentenced between 5 and 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, persons convicted of third degree crimes may be sentenced between 3 and 5 years in prison and persons convicted of a fourth degree crime may be sentenced to 1 and 3 years in prison.
Prosecutor Taylor and Chief Leusner commended cooperative efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Middle Township Police Department, and all of the law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation. Prosecutor Taylor stated the Prosecutor’s Office will continue to target individuals involved in drug distribution in Cape May County.
