COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Sea Isle City Police Chief Thomas D’Intino announce the arrest of Veronica Broughton, 62, of Whitesboro for theft.
Broughton worked as a home health care aide for a 92-year-old Sea Isle City resident. The victim discovered the thefts and alerted Sea Isle City Police Department.
A joint investigation was initiated between the Sea Isle City Police Detective Division and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crimes Unit. As a result of this investigation, it was determined Broughton allegedly stole in excess of $90,000 from the victim over a three-year period.
On Sept. 27, Broughton was charged with theft, a crime of the second degree.
According to Prosecutor Taylor, individuals charged with a crime of the second degree upon conviction are subject to a term of imprisonment of five to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
