COURT HOUSE – A man who was initially charged in the December 2015 murder of 15-year-old Nicole Angstadt was sentenced to 10 years in prison Feb. 8 after he pleaded guilty to armed robbery, robbery, burglary, and endangering the welfare of a child, The Press of Atlantic City reports.
Derrick Powers, 25, had, for nearly two years, faced murder charges, along with co-defendant Charles Mosley, in the killing of Angstadt. Murder charges against Powers were dropped after Mosley pleaded guilty Dec. 19, 2017 to aggravated manslaughter and admitted to killing Angstadt, according to the report.
Powers must serve at least 85 percent, or 8.5 years, before he is eligible for parole. He will receive credit for time served awaiting sentencing — 787 days, the report continued.
