Police Seize 46 Bags of Heroin from Villas Residence

VILLAS – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announce the arrest of Jerry Murphy, 58, of Lower Township for distribution of heroin Feb. 14.
The arrest is the result of a cooperative narcotics investigation conducted by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force and members of the Lower Township Police Department.
As a result, a court authorized search warrant was executed by members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Regional SWAT team at Murphy’s residence located in the 100 block of Tampa Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township.
Seized from Murphy’s residence were 46 bags of heroin and paraphernalia, along with an amount of US currency seized as proceeds from the sale and distribution of heroin.
Murphy was arrested by members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and Lower Township Police Department and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a crime of the third degree, distribution of controlled dangerous substance, a crime of the third degree and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offence. Murphy was committed to the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison. Prosecutor Taylor continues to urge the citizens of Cape May County to report any information regarding illegal drug activity and or any criminal activity within community and that this information can be reported anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriffs Tip Line at cmcsheriff.net and click on anonymous tip, or through the Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 609-465-2800 or 877-465-2801, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at 609- 465-1168.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
