Police Seek Woman Wanted in Connection to a Stabbing

WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division responded to the 100 block of East Youngs Avenue in connection to a reported stabbing Aug. 21 at 5 a.m. Upon arrival of police officers to the scene, it was ascertained that the victim, identified as a 26-year-old male who currently resides in the City of Wildwood, had sustained a single puncture wound to the left side lower back. The victim was transported to the Atlantic City Trauma Center for injuries sustained in the assault.

During the developing investigation by members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, it was determined that the suspect fled prior to police arrival. The suspect was identified as Christina M. Vasquez, a 24 year-old Hispanic female, currently residing in the City of Wildwood. During the follow-up investigation, a search of the crime scene resulted in the recovery of physical and forensic evidence along with the weapon utilized in the stabbing. Additionally it was determined that this incident was a domestic assault and Vasquez is related to the victim.

Accordingly, Vasquez was charged with the following listed criminal offenses; aggravated assault (a crime of the second degree) possession of a weapon (a crime of the fourth degree), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (a crime of the third degree) and endangering the welfare of a child (second degree).

Vasquez has not been apprehended. She is considered a threat and has been involved in multiple physical altercations. Anyone with information pertaining to her whereabouts is urged to contact the Wildwood Police Department at (609) 522-0222, the 911 Emergency System or the Cape May County Sheriffs Department TIP 411 System, by texting by cellular telephone utilizing the number 84741 in the message field.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
