RIO GRANDE – Members of the Middle Township Police Department Sept. 14 observed a hand to hand controlled dangerous substance (CDS) transaction in a parking lot on Rt. 47 South and Fulling Mill Road in Rio Grande.
As a result, a motor vehicle stop was conducted on a white BMW being operated by Luis “Feno” Rodriguez, 30, who is currently residing at the Shelton Motel, 1410 Rt. 47 in Rio Grande. Sgt. Beth Perendez of the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department was contacted and responded to the scene with K-9 Jax. Jax gave a positive indication on the vehicle and it was towed to Middle Township Police Impound. Rodriguez was released pending the execution of the search warrant. A search warrant was executed and 700 bags of heroin were recovered.
Rodriguez was charged with possession of heroin, third degree, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute over .5 ounce, second degree, and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public place, second degree.
