Police Seek Identity of Attempted Robbery Suspect

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Police received a report of an attempted robbery in the 1000 block Asbury Avenue July 29 at approximately 7:43 p.m. 

It was reported that a suspect entered the store and advised the clerk to put the money in a bag. The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a bandana covering part of his face. The suspect kept his hands in the front pouch of the sweatshirt. No threats were made or weapons displayed. The clerk immediately grabbed a baseball bat from behind the counter and ran toward the suspect. The suspect fled the store empty handed and headed south on Asbury Avenue. The clerk did not pursue the suspect once he left the store.

The suspect was observed by witnesses and the victim wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with light colored sleeves and hood, shorts, and running shoes. He is described as a white male in his early 20s, 5’10- to 6-foot, medium/fit build, with brown eyes and dark hair.
