Police Seek Armed Robbery Suspect

RIO GRANDE – An armed robbery occurred at Morelo’s Grocery, located in the Village Shoppes in Rio Grande, March 23 at 8:41 p.m.
A male entered the store with a handgun. The suspect reached into the cash register and grabbed money out of the drawer. When employees started to fight back, the robber fled on foot. Middle Township patrol officers, along with Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a male, wearing dark pants and a grey hooded sweatshirt with a distinct Philadelphia liberty bell on the back.
Anyone who has information on the suspect’s identity is urged to call the Middle Township Police Department at 465-8700, or can make an anonymous call to the Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 465-2800.
