Police Search for Robbery Suspect

RIO GRANDE — On Tuesday, Dec. 15 at approximately 5:45 p.m., police communications received a “911” call that a man had just been assaulted at the bus stop on Route 47, at the corner of 5th Street.
Patrol officers arrived at the scene, and found that a 65-year-old male allegedly had been robbed of $500 cash from his person and assaulted.
The suspect is described as a black male; 5’7″ thin build, wearing a black hoodie, and black mask. The suspect allegedly took $500 in cash from victim, while using physical force, as the victim was attempting to hand money to a friend at the bus stop.
The actor then fled the area on foot, headed in a southerly direction. A police search of the area for the suspect went unfounded. Patrolmen Richard Sittineri and Tracey Super are conducting the investigation, assisted by the Major Crimes Unit
